Prime Video’s Fallout is heading back to screens with a second season that promises to be darker, bigger and far more personal.
Once again, viewers return to a world two centuries after nuclear devastation — a wasteland where danger lurks behind every ruined building, justice rarely means what it should, and the line between survival and morality grows thinner by the day.
For the former Vault Dwellers, who grew up believing in order and optimism, the world outside continues to challenge everything they thought they knew.
At the heart of this chaos is Lucy, played by Ella Purnell, whose journey has shifted dramatically since Season 1. What once felt like an adventure fuelled by curiosity has transformed into a painful confrontation with her own past.
Purnell explains that this season digs deep into Lucy’s internal struggle: "The main theme for Lucy this season is very much about grappling with her identity and her moral values."
Her search for her father continues, but the emotional stakes are far heavier. "She's looking for her father again, but for very different reasons. She's trying to reconcile the idea of the father she grew up with, the man who taught her the values that she identifies as a core part of her being, and finding out the truth about the horrible things that he's done."
Adding to the turmoil is her uneasy alliance with The Ghoul — a companion whose world-view is shaped by brutality and cynicism rather than hope. "They have very different ideas of what they're going to do when they find her dad," Purnell notes.
Even so, Lucy clings to the principles she was raised with. "Lucy, of course, wants to do the right thing. She believes in justice, and taking accountability for one's actions and possib..."
Even in a broken world, she refuses to let her belief in fairness completely dissolve.
Season 2 brings back familiar faces including Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias and Frances Turner.
Produced by Kilter Films under the creative guidance of Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy and Athena Wickham, the new season of Fallout premieres globally on 17 December — only on Prime Video.
