Brad Pitt’s F1 director Joseph Kosinski has teased the possibility of a sequel to the blockbuster Formula One drama, one of 2025’s highest earners. Rumours about the makers exploring a second installment have been gaining momentum lately.

Brad Pitt starrer F1's director Joseph Kosinski has revealed hints about the possible sequel of the formula one based film. The action-drama film was one of the most highest earning films of 2025.

Recently, there have been speculations about the makers of F1 planning for a sequel. Addressing the rumours, director Joseph Kosinski told Variety during an interview, "We are in that stage where we are just kind of dreaming up what the next chapter for Sonny Hayes would be and for Apex GP. But, you know, based on the reaction from around the world to this movie, it’s something that people want to see, and we would be happy to go back and do it because we had so much fun making this one.”

The Apple Original Films blockbuster stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a renowned Formula One driver who stages a dramatic comeback with the fictional APXGP team. The film has been creating waves worldwide, breaking records and redefining sports cinema.

By August, F1 had already crossed the $600 million mark globally, becoming not only the highest-grossing Apple film of all time but also the biggest sports movie ever made. Apple CEO Tim Cook even hinted that discussions about a potential sequel were already underway, although nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

So far, the film has earned in approximately $627.9 million worldwide, with $189.5 million coming from North America and $438.4 million from overseas markets.

With such staggering numbers, F1 is now hailed as the biggest sports drama ever created and currently stands as the sixth highest-grossing film of 2025 globally.

It has also become Apple’s most successful film to date, surpassing the collections of Killers of the Flower Moon, Napoleon, and all previous Apple Original productions.

Apple Original Films recently announced that F1: The Movie will make its global streaming debut on Apple TV+ on December 12. In a notable move, it will also be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video, giving fans multiple platforms to catch the record-smashing blockbuster.
