The first trailer for HBO’s second Game of Thrones prequel, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, has finally been released and fans can't wait for the much-talked-about prequel.
The trailer promises plenty of chainmail, rain, mud, and fierce jousting. The series is set to premiere on January 18, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max.
The upcoming six-episode drama, each episode running about half an hour, offers a more grounded and gritty tone — drawing comparisons to Andor — unlike the grand, political scope of House of the Dragon.

The story is based on George R. R. Martin’s novella The Hedge Knight, and stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall, a wandering hedge knight, and Dexter Sol Ansell as his young squire, Egg.
The cast also includes Finn Bennett, Bertie Carvel, Daniel Ings, Tanzyn Crawford, Sam Spruell, Ross Anderson, Edward Ashley, Henry Ashton, Youssef Kerkour, Daniel Monks, Shaun Thomas, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Steve Wall, and Danny Webb.
According to the official synopsis, the show is set “a century before the events of Game of Thrones,” when “two unlikely heroes roamed Westeros — a brave but inexperienced knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his small but clever squire, Egg.” The tale unfolds during a time when the Targaryens still rule the Iron Throne and dragons remain fresh in living memory.
The series explores their adventures, friendships, and the dangerous foes they encounter, all while hinting at Egg’s hidden identity — he’s actually Prince Aegon Targaryen, destined to be king. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms promises a fresh, character-driven look into the world of Westeros before the events that shaped Game of Thrones.
