The craze of Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, creates a new history smashing all the box-office records of re-released films. It has now become the first film in Indian history to cross the Rs 50 crore mark after its re-release in theatres.
The maker and producer of the film, Deepak Mukut, took to Instagram and expressed enthusiasm for the milestone achievement. The Instagram caption reads, “You didn’t just watch it, you lived it! #SanamTeriKasam is breaking records, and it’s all because of your unstoppable love!”
The 2016 cult romantic drama was initially released in the theatres on February 5, 2016, but didn’t receive the response as expected.
It was then re-released during Valentine's week and has been since running in the theatres. The film has now officially surpassed the collection of Tumbbad and bagged the spot of the highest-grossing re-release film ever. The horror film collected over Rs 32 crore collection in India. Meanwhile, Sanam Teri Kasam is still running in theatres and nearing the Rs 53 crore mark.
