Govinda's daughter Tina Ahuja recently opened up about her relationship with her father. She revealed that he was often absent during her childhood due to his busy work schedule.
Tina shared with Bollywood Bubble that her father, who was one of the most popular stars of the 1990s, was rarely present during her school days. Instead, her mother, Sunita Ahuja, was the primary caregiver, handling day-to-day responsibilities such as lunch preparation and attending school events.
Tina explained, “People don’t know this, but my dad has hardly come to my school. He was either in Hyderabad or Switzerland. It was always my mom who was there.” However, Tina mentioned that she developed a bond with her father later in life, particularly when she started working with him. She said, “I started really liking working with dad. People started giving me extra attention and importance.”
Tina also recalled how her father’s absence extended to even her birth. In a previous interview, Tina’s mother, Sunita, had shared that Govinda was not present when Tina was born. “He had five shifts scheduled on the same day. My mother-in-law was with me, and after every shift, he’d check in and ask if the baby had been born. When he was at his third shift of the day, Tina was born,” Sunita said.
Despite this, Tina and Govinda later grew closer as she worked with him on various projects. Tina briefly tried acting, though her career did not take off, and she later shifted to a behind-the-scenes role.

As she shifted her focus to working with her father, Tina found an unexpected benefit: a deeper bond with Govinda and a stress-free, luxurious lifestyle. She embraced the change, shedding the pressure she once felt to prove herself in the film industry. Tina candidly shared, “I was getting better luxuries and treatment doing plan B. Why would I be a main lead and travel by economy when I can work with dad and get a first-class ticket?”
