GOT7’s youngest member, Yugyeom, is getting ready to start his mandatory military service, and he recently shared the news with his fans in a heartfelt way.

On social media, he posted a handwritten letter announcing that he will be enlisting in the Army Band Unit on September 29, beginning his 18-month commitment.

The group’s label confirmed the news too but asked everyone to respect Yugyeom’s privacy by not sharing his full schedule or exact enlistment details. This is to keep him safe and give him some personal space during this important time.

In his letter, Yugyeom spoke directly to his fans, affectionately known as Ahgase. He wrote, “To our Ahgase, who has been with me for 12 years, I first wanted to tell you that I will enter the army carefully and in good health to serve our country well. I promise to come back safely without getting hurt, so please take care of yourselves, eat well, and stay healthy too.”

He also asked fans to look at the moon whenever they miss him, promising, “I’ll also look at the same moon, thinking of all of you, and I’ll work hard while I’m away.”

In recent years, Yugyeom and the other GOT7 members have been focusing a lot on their solo careers, exploring their individual passions and talents.

Now, Yugyeom is the last member who still needs to complete his military service, while Mark Tuan, BamBam, and Jackson Wang aren’t required to enlist since they’re not Korean nationals.

This is a big moment for both Yugyeom and his fans, as they prepare to support him from a distance while he’s away.
