Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel starrer iconic TV show Gilmore Girls is completing 25 years, and the makers have announced a special documentary in October.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a Gilmore Girls documentary titled Searching For Stars Hollow is currently under production to celebrate the milestone of the beloved TV show.
The upcoming documentary will star Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore), Jared Padalecki (Dean Forester) and Chad Michael Murray (Tristan Dugray). The upcoming special will analyse "the beloved show’s role in American cultural history.”
The documentary will also feature never-before-seen interviews with cast members and behind-the-scenes stories from crew members, writers and directors.
Searching For Stars Hollow is produced by Ink On Paper Studios and will feature interviews with actors Keiko Agena, Sally Struthers, Liz Torres, Emily Kuroda, Rose Abdoo, Kathleen Wilhoite, Matt Jones and Grant Lee Phillips, along with director Jamie Babbit, writer and producer Stan Zimmerman, casting directors Jami Rudofsky and Mara Casey, and Kevin T Porter, who hosted the Gilmore Guys podcast.
Directed by Meghna Balakumar and Kevin Konrad Hanna, the special will be executive produced by Adam F Goldberg and backed by Jim Demonakos.
Meghna Balakumar teased the documentary in a statement to the outlet and said, “The interviews that we’ve already conducted with the cast have been a delight.”
She added, “We’ve shot more than 100 hours of footage and have already unearthed stories, commentary, critiques, and more. And we’re continuing to shoot more interviews in the coming months to present the most complete, full and truly new story of the show’s impact and legacy that is only possible at this historical moment.”

For the unversed, Gilmore Girls premiered on October 5, 2000 and revolves around a young single mother, Lorelai, played by Lauren Graham, and her daughter, Rory, played by Alexis Bledel, in the small fictional town of Stars Hollow.
The show ran for an impressive seven seasons and emerged as a cult classic. The show returned for limited episodes in 2016.
