Georgina Rodríguez is currently making headlines as she made a sparkling statement at the 2025 Venice International Film Festival, amusing fans with her first public appearance after announcing her engagement to football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this month.

Walking the red carpet on Sunday, 31 August, the 31-year-old model was a vision of elegance in a custom Roberto Cavalli gown. The striking black-and-white lace creation, with its delicate straps and bold patterns, was elevated further by layers of glittering diamonds. But it was her engagement ring that stole the spotlight.

The enormous oval-cut diamond, believed to weigh around 35 carats and valued at up to $5 million, caught every flash of the camera. Rodríguez played up the moment, smiling coyly and posing with her hand raised to her face so photographers could capture the stunning jewel.

Later in the day, the bride-to-be was spotted outside the Hotel Excelsior in a more understated but equally chic look — a short-sleeved black turtleneck tucked into a knee-length lace skirt. She finished the outfit with sunglasses and heels, once again letting her new ring do most of the talking.

The engagement was confirmed on 11 August, when Rodríguez posted a heartfelt photo on Instagram. Resting her hand on Ronaldo’s, she wrote: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.” The post gave fans their first proper look at the enormous diamond.

The couple have been together for eight years and share five children — twins Eva Maria and Mateo (8), daughters Alana (7) and Bella (3), and Ronaldo’s eldest, Cristiano Jr. (15). Their relationship has endured both highs and heartbreak, including the loss of Bella’s newborn twin brother in April 2022.

Speculation about marriage had already been swirling before the announcement, particularly after Ronaldo casually referred to Rodríguez as his “wife” in a July video for fitness brand Whoop. “I can push her and she can push me too,” he said, speaking about how they motivate each other in workouts.

While neither has directly addressed the ring’s details, jewellery experts describe it as “extraordinary,” praising its clarity and flawless colour. Some suggest it could easily exceed $2 million, while others estimate closer to $5 million.

With her glittering Venice debut and a love story that continues to capture global attention, Rodríguez’s fairytale moment with Ronaldo feels only just beginning.
