Genelia Deshmukh says she works 10 hours amid Deepika Padukone's eight hour row

Actress Genelia Deshmukh, who is returning to the silver screen with Sitaare Zameen Par after a long hiatus, says she is managing her professional commitments and motherhood.

It comes after actress Deepika Padukone recently made an exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit seeking an eight hour long shift.

In a recent chat with Zoom, Genelia said though she agrees that long working hours for a mother are difficult but it is not unmanageable.

“It is tough but it is not impossible. I do work for 10 hours a day and there are days when the director asks to extend it to 11 or 12 hours. I think it’s fair but we just need time to make those adjustments. When you have a day or two where you have to overdo, it’s also an understanding and a process that needs to be done," she said in her conversation.

Genelia will be seen opposite Aamir Khan in the Sitaare Zameen Par, which is a remake of the Spanish sports dramedy Champions.

Aamir Khan plays a basketball coach who has fallen on hard times and finds redemption via mentoring a disabled youth squad. The film, which is set to be released on June 20, is directed by RS Prasanna.

Deepika had recently exit Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, seeking an 8-hour workday, a significant pay-check and profit-sharing, The terms that reportedly didn’t align with Vanga's expectations.

Although Deepika did not mention the departure by name, she did hint at her priorities as a mother in a recent post on being authentic.

Vanga, took to X with a cryptic post, accusing an unnamed actor of breaching trust and playing “#dirtyPRgames." Without naming Deepika, he suggested someone had put down a younger actor while allegedly leaking story details. His statement read: “You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You will never get it."

Triptii Dimri, who rose to fame with Animal, has replaced Deepika in Spirit.
