Food Network fame Anne Burrell's died by suicide, authorities confirm her death cause

Food Network star Anne Burrell, best known for hosting Worst Cooks in America, tragically died by suicide on June 17, a loss that left the culinary world and her fans in deep shock. In a recent update, new details regarding the cause of her death have emerged.

As stated by the New York City medical examiner, Burrell reportedly died from acute intoxication caused by a combination of diphenhydramine, cetirizine, ethanol, and amphetamine—substances that include alcohol, antihistamines, and ADHD medication.

After a 911 call describing what appeared to be a cardiac arrest, Burrell was discovered unconscious in her Brooklyn home's shower. When emergency medical personnel got there, they declared her dead. Near her body, authorities also found dozens of pills.

The fact that Burrell had just the day before performed at an improv show at Second City New York and seemed to be in a good mood made the news of her death all the more shocking. For those close to her, the tragedy was even more devastating because friends remembered seeing her as her typical cheerful and carefree self.

Burrell was a successful author in addition to her work on television. She wrote two best-selling cookbooks, Own Your Kitchen and Cook Like a Rock Star.
