Filmmaker Kussh S Sinha, son of veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha and brother of actress Sonakshi Sinha, is gearing up for his directorial debut film Nikita Roy. However, last year he gained a lot of attention after reports of him not attending sister Sonakshi's wedding with her longtime beau Zaheer Iqbal in June 2024.
In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol, Kussh opened up about the controversies and clarified that those rumours were false and he was very much present at his sister Sonakshi's wedding.
"I'll just put it shortly. I was there. So, you know, whoever has put out that story, should have done the fact checking because I was clearly there," the director said.
Actress Sonakshi Sinha tied the knot with her longtime partner Zaheer Iqbal in June 2024 in a close-knit and intimate ceremony attended by close family and friends. The wedding was a heartfelt celebration, marking a new chapter in the actress’s personal life.
Professional relationship on set with sister Sonakshi
Meanwhile, her brother Kussh S Sinha is all set to make his directorial debut with the upcoming feature film Nikita Roy. The film boasts a compelling cast including Sonakshi Sinha, Paresh Rawal, Arjun Rampal, and Suhail Nayyar. Described as a genre-bending psychological mystery with supernatural undertones, Nikita Roy promises to deliver an unconventional cinematic experience.
When asked further about working with his sister Sonakshi in the film and whether it was "ghar ka mamla" or professional on the film sets, Kussh further said, "If people see me behaving familiar because she's my sister, it can possibly give off the wrong impression in a professional environment. So I kept it very professional. She is an experienced actor. She has, you know, a she's done a multitude of films. I have to keep that in mind when I'm working with her."

This film marks the debut of Kussh S. Sinha's distinct directing style, which combines an unconventional narrative style, emotional complexity, and rich visual storytelling. While Sonakshi's character sets out on a mission to reveal his truth—giving herself just one week to do so—Paresh Rawal seems to play a spiritual guru who manipulates people psychologically.
The film is positioned as an atmospheric thriller that challenges perceptions and dives deep into the human psyche. Nikita Roy is slated to hit theatres on June 27, 2025.
