Hollywood actor and comedian Eddie Murphy has joined the cast of the fans’ favourite upcoming Pink Panther movie. He will portray the iconic Inspector Jacques Clouseau in the upcoming film.
In a recent interview with Al Roker on Today, Eddie has confirmed his involvement and shared, “I’m getting ready to do a George Clinton, Parliament-Funkadelic. I’m getting ready to do George Clinton.”
He also shared an update on Shrek 5 and continued, “(I’ve) already started Shrek 5. And I’m going to be — I’m Inspector Clouseau in the next Pink Panther.”
The actor further confirmed, “Yeah, I’m the new Clouseau.” However, the actor also teased about his character and hinted that his character will not be French this time. He said, “Maybe. Well, he has to be French, but he could also be Haitian. I will tell you, he’s Black. He’s Black, for sure.”
For the unversed, the iconic character Inspector Clouseau, a clumsy but well-meaning French detective, first appeared in Blake Edwards’ 1963 classic The Pink Panther, played by Peter Sellers. Fans loved Peter’s portrayal, leading to sequels.
