Hollywood just got a little more connected—personally. Comedians and longtime friends Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are now officially in-laws. Their children, Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence, recently tied the knot in a private ceremony, turning their fathers’ iconic on-screen chemistry into a real-life family bond.
The news was revealed by Eddie Murphy himself during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show.
He confirmed that his son Eric had married Jasmin, daughter of Martin Lawrence, earlier this month. The couple opted for an intimate, no-fuss wedding with just the two of them and a preacher at a church, skipping the big wedding fanfare entirely.
“Actually, they got married, like, two weeks ago,” Murphy shared, chuckling during the interview. “They went off… Everybody was making the big wedding plans, and they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them.”
Murphy also joked about the unexpected twist, saying, “Yeah, we’re in-laws. And he doesn’t have to pay for that big wedding now.” Despite the simple ceremony, Eddie hinted at a celebration later, saying, “I think we’ll have like a big party or something.”
Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence reportedly began dating in 2021 and got engaged in November 2024. Their relationship had already caught public attention due to their celebrity lineage, but they mostly kept things low-key. Jasmin is Martin’s eldest daughter from his first wife, Patricia Southall. Eric is Eddie’s eldest son with his ex-girlfriend, Paulette McNeely.

Both actors are still very active in the entertainment world. Eddie Murphy reprised his role as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, released on Netflix in 2024. He’s also returning as the voice of Donkey in Shrek 5 (2026) and will be seen in the Amazon Prime comedy The Pickup, alongside Keke Palmer, Pete Davidson, and Eva Longoria.
Martin Lawrence, meanwhile, appeared with Will Smith in Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024) and completed a successful U.S. stand-up tour titled Y’all Know What It Is! He’s now working on Young Martin, a dramatic spin-off of his popular ’90s show Martin, which will be set in modern-day Detroit.
