Global pop star Dua Lipa has publicly ripped into the Daily Mail after the British tabloid published a report linking her to a political controversy she says was entirely fabricated.

The September 20 story claimed Dua Lipa had dropped her long-time agent David Levy after he signed a petition against Irish rap trio Kneecap’s appearance at Glastonbury.

On Instagram, Dua Lipa called the article “false clickbait” and accused the paper of exploiting a global tragedy for page views. “Not only was the story completely false, but the language used by the Daily Mail has been deliberately inflammatory,” she wrote. “It is always Free Palestine. But exploiting a global tragedy to sell newspapers is deeply troubling.”

What the Daily Mail Reported

The Mail story, written by consultant editor Katie Hind, opened with:

“Dua Lipa has dumped her Jewish agent after he campaigned to stop controversial rappers Kneecap performing at Glastonbury, claiming they were fuelling anti-Semitism. The singer’s long-standing representative David Levy was the first signatory on a letter urging festival founder Michael Eavis and his daughter Emily to drop the pro-Palestinian Belfast rappers, who have been accused of supporting Hezbollah terrorists.”

The piece quoted an unnamed music industry source claiming Dua Lipa was still signed to WME but working with a different manager.

Still, the story spread quickly across outlets before corrections were issued. The tabloid later updated its online article but, notably, without an apology or visible clarification on what had been changed.

Lipa’s Activism in Context

Dua Lipa has been vocal about the Israel-Palestine conflict for years. Back in 2023, she joined 185 artists in signing the “Artists4Ceasefire” letter urging U.S. President Joe Biden to demand an end to Israel’s military offensive in Gaza. That move sparked backlash, including a hate-filled track by Israeli duo Ness & Still that called for her death.

By pushing back against the Daily Mail, Dua Lipa is making it clear she won’t let tabloids weaponize her activism or twist facts to create viral headlines.
