Drishyam 3: Jeethu Joseph shares key updates on the Mohanlal starrer

The much-anticipated Drishyam 3, starring Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, is slowly taking shape. Earlier this year, the third instalment of the well-known crime thriller series was revealed, with an anticipated release date of early 2026.

Director Jeethu Joseph has now formally acknowledged that the script's initial draft is finished.

Jeethu gave an exciting update during the opening of the Film and Drama Club at Nirmala College in Muvattupuzha. Last night, I completed writing Drishyam 3's climax.

He disclosed during his speech, "I've been under a lot of pressure for a long time. The director went on to say that he would get up at 3:30 a.m. every day to work on the script, even though he had to balance the shoots for his other movies, Mirage and Valathu Vashathe Kallan. It was mentally and physically taxing. However, I was at last relieved yesterday," he remarked.

It's interesting to note that Jeethu also remembered an emotional part of the occasion. The famous Drishyam theme music began to play as he entered the stage, bringing back memories of the entire series, including the first movie, its follow-up, and now the third installment. He affirmed that regular filming for the movie will start in October 2025.

Jeethu Joseph alluded to an ambitious plan in a previous interview: Drishyam 3's Malayalam, Telugu, and Hindi versions might be shot concurrently with the intention of a pan-India release.

The compelling story of Georgekutty, a lowly cable TV operator whose family gets entangled in a police investigation following the disappearance of a young man, marked the beginning of the Drishyam franchise in 2013.

Due to its gripping plot and profound emotional depth, the original movie received both critical and commercial praise, leading to multiple language remakes. Drishyam 2: The Resumption, its follow-up, was widely praised when it was released directly on Amazon Prime Video in 2021.

Regarding his career, Mohanlal's next project is Sathyan Anthikad's Hridayapoorvam. The release date of the family entertainer is set for August 28, 2025, which coincides with the Onam celebrations. Fans can anticipate another intricately woven thriller that carries on Georgekutty's captivating journey as excitement for Drishyam 3 grows.
