Director Sundar reflects on his unlikely friendship with Vishal: "I had sworn not to even look at his face..."

Director Sundar C, whose highly anticipated film Madha Gaja Raja starring Vishal is finally set to release on January 12 after a decade-long wait, recently revealed an unknown fact about his friendship with actor Vishal.

At a promotional event for Madha Gaja Raja, director Sundar C, moved by Vishal's dedication to attend despite having a high fever, shared that his bond with the actor began with an unexpected fight.

He revealed that although he didn’t know Vishal personally at the time, Vishal and his wife, Khushbu, were close friends. Sundar explained that when they approached Vishal for a script, they coordinated through his production team and set a meeting time, which led to their initial interaction.

"When my assistant writer and I went to meet him at the appointed time, we saw him heading the other way five minutes before the agreed time for the meeting. My assistant, who saw the actor heading out of his office, drew my attention. However, I dismissed his concerns thinking he might have mistaken someone else for Vishal. When we reached Vishal's office and I realized that it was indeed he who had just stepped out, I felt enraged. I returned in anger and complained to my wife Khushbu that night about Vishal not being present for the meeting," stated the director.

Sundar C continued to share that, despite his initial anger towards Vishal, he was touched by his gesture months later at an event honoring veteran actress M N Rajam. At the time, Sundar had been determined not to acknowledge Vishal, but the actor, with genuine sincerity, made his way through the crowd and took Sundar’s hands, apologizing. Vishal explained that he had left their previous meeting abruptly due to a medical emergency involving someone close to him. This moment marked a turning point in their relationship, and Sundar was deeply moved by Vishal’s kindness.

He went on to express that after truly getting to know Vishal, he realized what a genuinely good person he was. Having worked with many heroes, Sundar C acknowledged Vishal's unique character. "I always call Karthik sir my elder brother. I would say Vishal is my younger brother," he concluded.
