  • Dhurandhar 2's 3h52m runtime sparks viral memes online
  • Fans joke about packing suitcases for the long movie experience
  • Advance bookings strong, Rs 37.11 crore from paid previews

The internet has found its latest obsession, and this time it is not just the film, but the sheer length of it. Dhurandhar 2, the much-awaited spy thriller starring Ranveer Singh, has triggered a wave of hilarious memes even before its release, thanks to its reported runtime of 3 hours and 52 minutes.

That number alone has been enough to send social media into overdrive. What usually requires popcorn and a soft drink has now, according to the internet, evolved into something far more ambitious. Fans are joking that watching Dhurandhar 2 feels less like going to a movie and more like preparing for a short trip.

Instagram and X are flooded with reels showing people dramatically packing suitcases before heading to theatres.

Some videos show creators stuffing bags with snacks, water bottles, blankets, and even pillows, as if they are boarding a night train rather than watching a film. In one viral clip, a group of friends wheels their luggage out of the house announcing they are ‘off for Dhurandhar 2,’ while another shows a family carefully packing food supplies for what they describe as a “cinematic night out.”

The humour doesn’t stop there. Many memes revolve around the interval, with users joking that it might feel like a full dinner break instead of a quick snack run. Some even suggest that theatres should introduce meal combos or allow food deliveries inside, given the nearly four-hour commitment.

Here’s the interesting part though. While the memes are playful, they also signal something deeper. People are not mocking the film out of disinterest. If anything, this level of engagement shows that Dhurandhar 2 has already captured attention in a big way. The jokes are less about avoiding the film and more about building hype around it.

And the numbers back that up. Despite all the online humour, advance bookings are off to a strong start. According to trade reports, paid preview shows alone have already generated around Rs 37.11 crore in ticket sales. That is not just good, it is a clear sign of massive anticipation.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the sequel continues the story from the first film, following Hamza Ali Mazari’s intense pursuit of Major Iqbal. Along with Ranveer Singh, the film brings back Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and others, adding to its scale and appeal.

A runtime close to four hours is rare in today’s fast-paced content world. But maybe that is exactly the point. When everything is shrinking into short-form content, a film like Dhurandhar 2 is going in the opposite direction, demanding time, attention, and patience.

And strangely, the audience seems ready. Even if it means carrying a suitcase.
