Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is set to hit the theatres on March 18, with the paid previews set to begin at 5 pm. As the fans are eagerly waiting for the much-anticipated release, Dhurandhar 2 has already started dominating the box office with its advance booking collection.
The response to paid previews has been tremendous, with advance ticket sales reaching Rs 44.25 crore, including block bookings. The momentum is not going to stop anytime soon. The film has already crossed Rs 40 crore in pre-release sales in the Hindi version alone, according to trade tracking.
If we take all languages into consideration, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, then the total advance booking collection for this film within the domestic market is a staggering Rs 42.71 crore.
Adding another feather to this film’s already illustrious cap is that it has sold nearly 6 lakh tickets within national multiplex chains for its opening day as well as paid previews, according to Sacnilk. The action thriller is on par with one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Indian cinema, namely Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Hindi).
The rise in bookings has been particularly high in the case of PVR INOX, as the film has already crossed 1.5 lakh tickets in terms of pre-sales, marking the highest-ever premiere day advance booking for a Bollywood film.
Thus, it may be noted that the film Dhurandhar 2 has turned out to be one of the strongest pre-sale films in recent Hindi cinema. The overseas markets, too, have played an important role in the success of the film, as the advance bookings for the opening weekend are estimated to have crossed 75 crores.
When the paid previews, Day 1 advance bookings, and overseas box office are put together, the film has already crossed 153 crores for the opening weekend, including the block seats.
Picking up from where the previous film left off, the sequel continues the story of Hamza Ali Mazari, played by Ranveer Singh, as he continues his mission after taking out Rehman Dakait, played by Akshaye Khanna, in the previous film. However, his next target is Major Iqbal, played by Arjun Rampal.
Backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film is all set for its official theatrical release on March 19.
