Actor Dhanush and his ex-wife Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth are officially divorced now. According to reports from Sun TV and News18, the Chennai Family Welfare Court granted the divorce after the couple expressed their inability to live together.

The case had been heard three times before, but Dhanush and Aishwaryaa had missed all previous sessions. Aishwaryaa attended court on Thursday, leading the judge to set a new hearing for November 27, when the final divorce decree was granted.

Dhanush and Aishwaryaa, who married in 2004, are parents to two sons, Linga and Yatra. However after 18 years of marriage, on January 17, 2022, Dhanush announced their separation on social media.

He shared the news on X and wrote, "18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been one of growth, understanding, adjustment, and adaptation. Today, we stand at a place where our paths separate."

Dhanush and Aishwaryaa, who tied the knot in 2004, are parents to two sons, Linga and Yatra. Despite their divorce, they live nearby in Poes Garden and continue to co-parent their children, ensuring they spend time with both parents.

Dhanush recently faced criticism from actress Nayanthara after he denied permission to use footage from their 2015 Tamil film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her Netflix wedding documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. Dhanush, who produced the film, also sent a legal notice demanding Rs 10 crore in damages for including a three-second behind-the-scenes clip from the movie. In response, Dhanush has filed a civil suit against Nayanthara and her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Sivan, accusing them of using the footage without his approval. The case has been submitted to the Madras High Court.

On the work front, Dhanush is all set to star in Idly Kadai, slated for release in 2025. The film features Dhanush alongside Nithya Menen and Shalini Pandey. It is directed and co-produced by Dhanush under his banner Wunderbar Films, in collaboration with the newly established production house, Dawn Pictures.
