‘Destined with You’ fame Rowoon to begin mandatory military service in July, bids farewell to fans

South Korean actor and singer Rowoon, best known for his leading roles in popular dramas like Destined with You and Extraordinary You, will begin his mandatory military service on July 21, 2025. The news was confirmed by his agency, FNC Entertainment, following reports by South Korean media outlet MyDaily.

“Rowoon’s enlistment date has been released,” FNC stated in an official announcement. “After enlisting, he will faithfully fulfill his military service and then meet his fans again.” The 27-year-old actor will enter a training camp and serve as an active-duty soldier in the South Korean Army.

Rowoon, whose real name is Kim Seok-woo, originally debuted as a member of K-pop boy group SF9 in 2016. While he gained recognition as a performer in the group, he found wider fame through his acting roles in several hit dramas. His breakout performance in Extraordinary You paved the way for more lead roles in series such as The King’s Affection, Destined with You, and the 2023 romantic comedy The Matchmakers. His strong screen presence and versatility have made him one of the most sought-after actors of his generation.

Ahead of his enlistment, Rowoon will hold a special fan meeting titled ‘Before Blooming’ on May 31 at the Donghae Culture and Arts Center of Kwangwoon University in Seoul. The event is expected to be an emotional moment for both the actor and his fans, serving as a temporary farewell before his military hiatus.

Currently, Rowoon is filming ‘The Murky Stream’, a historical drama set to be released later this year on Disney+. The series is expected to be his final project before his enlistment, and anticipation is high among fans eager to see his last onscreen performance for the time being.
