Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Jaideep Ahlawat, along with some other celebrities attended the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) in August.
Pictures and videos from the event went viral on social media very quickly. The awards show was hosted by comedian Sapan Verma, who has since posted a video of his opening monologue in which he roasted celebrities like Aamir, Malaika Arora, and Abhishek Bachchan.
In the video, Sapan makes fun of Aamir Khan's series of interviews he gave ahead of the release of 'Sitaare Zameen Par'.
He said, “Aamir Khan, as we all know, was so good this year in all the 450 interviews he did to promote Sitaare Zameen Par. Sir, you did so much promotion at one point, I was worried. My doorbell rang, I thought you had personally come to tell me to watch the film.”
Joking further about Aamir Khan rejecting a Rs 100 crore OTT deal, he said, “Aamir sir made history, an iconic move. He has released this film directly on YouTube. I have heard that you declined an offer of more than ₹100 crore from an OTT platform for this move. ₹100 crore. You know what that means, right? Akshay Kumar’s monthly salary.”
To promote his film Sitaare Zameen Par Aamir gave several interviews and later announced that the film will not release on any OTT platform.
Some reports also suggest that the actor turned down a Rs 120 crore offer from Amazon Prime Video for its release. The film was later released on YouTube, charging its viewers Rs 100.

Aamir then spoke about his decision and stated, “This was the reason why I did not give away the rights of my film Sitaare Zameen Par, as this plan was in motion. Our plan is to release every film under the Aamir Khan Production banner on YouTube, after they complete their theatrical run. Each movie will be available at a minimal cost of ₹100.”
The sports comedy-drama, which was directed by RS Prasanna, is a spiritual sequel to Khan's 2007 masterpiece Taare Zameen Par.
Ten new actors, all of whom have special abilities, co-star with Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in the main roles. This official remake of the 2018 Spanish film Campeones centers on a suspended basketball coach who must assist a team of players with disabilities in getting ready for a tournament as part of his community service requirement.
