CID ACP Pradyuman role ends

Veteran actor Shivaji Satam, who played the iconic role of ACP Pradyuman in Sony TV’s long-running show CID, is all set to bid farewell to the series. According to a report by India Today, his journey on the show will come to an emotional end as his character will be killed off in an upcoming episode.

ACP Pradyuman was a strong symbol of leadership and justice in the world of fictional crime investigation. Shivaji Satam’s portrayal of the character won hearts across generations. As per the report, the end comes as part of a bomb blast storyline where Pradyuman will sacrifice his life.

“A shocking development has been enforced in the popular TV show CID as the popular character of ACP Pradyuman is all set to die,” the article states. “Played by veteran actor Shivaji Satam, the role defined leadership in such investigative organisations.”

A source close to the production revealed that a character named Barbussa, played by Tigmanshu Dhulia, will plant a bomb with the intention of destroying the CID team. “While the other members would be saved, ACP Pradyuman would lose his life,” the report reads. The character Barbossa had earlier appeared on the show as the leader of the Eye Gang and is now making a comeback after more than six years.

The episode featuring this dramatic twist has already been shot and is expected to air soon. “The team recently shot the episode, which will go on air in a few days. As of now, not many details have been shared as the makers want this to be a big shocker for fans,” the source added.

Interestingly, CID has seen several characters ‘dying’ only to return later. While the current plan is to conclude ACP Pradyuman’s journey, the article notes that the decision to bring him back might depend on the feedback from fans. “While the sources mention that there are no such plans to get ACP back, a decision could be made according to the feedback they receive after this twist.”

Shivaji Satam had earlier spoken about the impact of CID since it first aired in 1998. “Most people, especially youngsters, always imagine having heroes in their lives. And police officers are people we look up to and have imbibed good values from,” he said. “These characters are absolutely human – they don’t fly or jump, but are just good at their jobs.”

CID was relaunched this year on Sony TV and is also available on Netflix. An animated version called CID Squad – Naye Yug Ka Naya CID has also been created.
