Chun Woo Hee is embracing every facet of herself — and her craft — in Marie Claire Korea’s September issue.

Under the thoughtful theme “Whithersoever,” the acclaimed actress stuns in a new editorial spread that captures not just her striking visuals, but the emotional depth that defines her screen presence.

In one series, she steps into fierce, fashion-forward looks — glossy textures, black knee-high boots, and bold styling that reflect her cinematic intensity. In other pictures, the mood softens. The monochrome shots focus on her subtle expressions and calm elegance, while the other close-ups reveal her glowing skin and soulful eyes.

Speaking to the magazine, Chun talked about how her relationship with the camera has evolved over the years, saying “With experience, I’ve learned which angles bring out strengths or weaknesses, but I try not to consciously avoid certain sides of my face. I prefer to explore freely within the given frame.” It’s a refreshing take, showing her openness to vulnerability and authenticity, both on and off screen.

She also reflected on how audiences often see a mix of softness and steel in her performances. “The public often sees both strength and fragility in me — I believe both exist within, and as an actress, that duality is a strength.”

This delicate balance takes centre stage again in her upcoming drama My Youth, set to premiere on 5 September. The series, rich in emotional texture, leans into the ache of love and longing — themes Chun admits gave her pause at first. “There are many emotions in love, but in this drama, longing is the most resonant. I did have some hesitation about taking on a romance again, but I hope this work brings me closer to the audience,” she shared.

Known for effortlessly moving between genres — from romantic comedy in Be Melodramatic to poignant drama in Not a Hero — Chun Woo Hee brings both elegance and honesty to every role. Her return in My Youth is one fans won’t want to miss.

The full feature appears in Marie Claire Korea’s September issue.
