Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan and Allu Arjun at Allu Kanakaratnam’s funeral

Allu Arjun’s paternal and Ram Charan’s maternal grandmother, Allu Kanakaratnam, passed away on Saturday at the age of 94 from age-related illnesses.

A video of the moment is going viral on social media. In the video, Allu Arjun, his son Allu Ayaan, and Chiranjeevi were seen in front of the pier as they turned pallbearers. Meanwhile, Ram Charan was at the other end. The actors carefully carried her outside on a bamboo bed covered with a white cloth.

Another video showed Allu embracing his son tightly as he started crying.

Ram Charan was in Mysore for the shoot of his upcoming film, Peddi, when he got the news of his grandmother’s death. He soon jetted off to Hyderabad to pay his last respects.

Both Ram Charan and Allu Arjun were visibly moved. Ram placed rose petals on her feet and appeared in front of her with his hands folded.

Her mortal remains were kept at the home of her son, Allu Aravind, so that friends and family could pay their respects.

Allu Kanakaratnam passed away in the early hours of Saturday at 1:45 AM due to age-related issues. On Sunday, Pawan Kalyan and Naga Babu, who are in Vizag for a public meeting, will travel to Hyderabad to offer their condolences.

For the unversed, Allu Arjun and Ram Charan are first cousins. Allu Arjun's father, Allu Aravind, has a sister named Surekha, who is also Ram Charan's mother and Chiranjeevi's wife. They thus belong to the well-known Allu-Konidela family in Telugu cinema.
