BTS members V and J-Hope are facing a wave of backlash from fans after posting images that hint at a potential collaboration with American singer Charlie Puth, whom fans deem “problematic.”

Members of BTS recently shared updates from their time in the US. J-Hope posted a series of photos and videos on social media, one of which showed Charlie Puth and Jungkook in what appeared to be a recording studio. Around the same time, V (Kim Taehyung) also posted an Instagram story featuring Charlie Puth, adding fuel to the speculation.

The posts immediately triggered a firestorm online, as fans expressed concern and disappointment over the group potentially working with Charlie Puth. While no official collaboration has been announced, many interpreted the social media updates as subtle teasers.

The controversy stems from allegations around Charlie Puth’s past behaviour and political stances. Some users accused him of being a Zionist, while others resurfaced claims labeled him a “rape apologist” or highlighted his insensitive past comments.

One fan wrote, “For God’s sake, Charlie Puth is a Zionist, this nightmare doesn’t end.”

Others questioned why BTS members would choose to associate with him when so many other artists were available, mentioning names like Frank Ocean, Kehlani, Zayn, Billie Eilish, and Halsey as preferable alternatives.

Another viral post read, “Charlie Puth in the studio with the tannies? Girl, I thought we got rid of that man years ago…”

This is not the first time Charlie Puth’s interactions with BTS have stirred discussion. Their 2018 joint performance of “We Don’t Talk Anymore” was well-received, but since then, shifting fandom dynamics and rising political awareness have changed the tone of such conversations.
