Birthdays are always special, but when you’re BTS leader Kim Namjoon (RM), the whole world joins in to celebrate.

On 12 September, the rapper turned 31, and what began as a simple celebration soon turned into a trending moment after fellow member Jin surprised him with a truly extravagant gift.

RM gave ARMYs a peek into his day through Instagram stories, but one photo instantly set the fandom buzzing. In the picture, he wore an elegant 18K white gold and diamond FRED Force 10 Rise Ring on his fourth finger.

He tagged Jin and wrote: “Jin hyungie gave me a gift.” That was enough to send fans spiralling into theories, with many joking it looked like a wedding ring. The playful idea of “Namjin” — the affectionate nickname for RM and Jin’s bond — was suddenly trending once again.

The speculations grew so much that RM addressed it during a Weverse live. Ever honest, he explained with a laugh: “Jin hyung gave me this! The reason I’m wearing it on my 4th ring finger is because it only fits there. I’m not gonna married, I’m not married.” He even revealed that Jin teased him, asking: “Doesn’t it fit anywhere else?”

The ring itself wasn’t just meaningful, but valuable too. Initially priced at $7,670, fans noticed the price jumped to $8,400 after online searches spiked following RM’s post.

The gesture was made even more personal because Jin is an ambassador for the French luxury jeweller FRED, making his gift all the more thoughtful.

True to form, ARMYs flooded social media with their wit. “Yeah, you two look good together, be happy kids,” one fan quipped, while another wrote, “Wow, Jin’s gift — his class really hits different.” Others joined in with comments like “Namjin never beating marriage allegations.” What could have been a simple birthday post became a worldwide talking point.

Beyond the viral moment, RM revealed he spent time with his bandmates during the week. “I had dinner with V last night in a restaurant. I drank a few glasses of whiskey with Jimin. I met Jin hyung who gave me this ring.” He also shared that he stayed over at Jimin’s house, where they spent hours reflecting on the future and the next chapter of their lives.
