The sexual assault allegations against music composer Sachin Sanghvi have sent shockwaves through both the entertainment industry and the public, shining a spotlight not only on the claims themselves but also on how such cases are discussed and reported.

In response to the growing attention, the victim’s lawyer, Advocate Nishant Johri, has urged media outlets and the public to exercise care, calling for responsible reporting and respect for the ongoing judicial process.

Sachin Sanghvi, 45, widely recognised as one half of the acclaimed composer duo Sachin–Jigar, was taken into custody earlier this week after a 29-year-old woman lodged a formal complaint.

He has since been granted bail, but the case remains under judicial scrutiny and a thorough police investigation is underway.

Speaking on behalf of the victim, Advocate Johri stressed the importance of pursuing justice while respecting the sensitivities involved. '

He said, “We remain committed to pursuing every lawful course of action to ensure that justice is rightfully served. As the matter is currently sub judice, we will not be making any further comments at this stage. We also respectfully urge members of the media to exercise sensitivity and discretion in their reporting, keeping in mind the dignity, privacy, and emotional well-being of the victim involved.”

According to police reports, the alleged incident occurred after the composer promised the complainant work on a music album and, allegedly, marriage.

The woman, a resident of Vile Parle, provided authorities with a detailed statement. Investigators have been collecting evidence from the studio and are verifying the timeline described in the complaint. A senior police officer confirmed, “A rape case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC. The accused was arrested and released on bail as the investigation continues.
