Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan recently made waves online after he had an unexpected encounter with Hollywood icon Johnny Depp at the ongoing Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia.
Sharing the moment on Instagram, Kartik shared a playful a photo with Johnny Depp, hinting at a “Jack Sparrow x Rooh Baba” crossover, sending fans into a frenzy with a photo of him posing beside Depp.
In the caption, he wrote, "Pirates of the Red Sea. JackSparrow x RoohBaba."
The surprise meeting instantly became one of the festival’s most talked-about moments, with fans flooding the comments in disbelief. One exclaimed, "NOOOO WAYY WAIT A FREAKIN MINUTE," while another reacted, "Wait What!!! Captain Jack Sparrow and Rooh Baba together!!" A third chimed in, "That is what the selfie of the year looks like."
While Kartik’s ‘Rooh Baba’ persona continues to resonate globally, the actor also opened up about how he wasn’t initially convinced about joining the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise.
Speaking at the festival, he revealed, "When the film first came to me, there was no story -- just a sequel idea. I wasn't keen. But Bhushan (Kumar) sir convinced me, we worked on it, and everything changed. Today, wherever I go, kids call me Rooh Baba. I'm glad I eventually did it," as per a press release reported by ANI.
Led by Kartik Aaryan, the second and third Bhool Bhulaiyaa films went on to become pivotal career landmarks for him, with the second installment emerging as one of Bollywood’s biggest theatrical hits after COVID.
Kartik was also celebrated with the Best Actor (Male) honour for his standout portrayal of Rooh Baba in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
On the professional front, Kartik has a packed lineup ahead, featuring titles like Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, Naagzilla, and another film co-starring Sreeleela.
