Harshvardhan Rane, currently seen in Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, which released alongside Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma, has won over fans with his humility.
During a recent promotional event, a video circulating on Instagram showed Harshvardhan and co-star Sonam Bajwa addressing the audience after a screening.
In his speech, Harshvardhan urged fans to support both films, saying, “This Diwali, you supported the films of two outsiders. Ayushmann Khurrana’s film has released along with mine. Watch both the films, please, and enjoy both. This sends a good message out that aap logon ne akele poora ka poora Bollywood se nepotism hi khatm kar diya (you people alone finished nepotism from the entire Bollywood).”
Look at the hate towards #HarshavardhanRane for saying a harmless and truth. His career has been objectively impacted due to Nepotism and he feels relieved that audience accepting him, it's like breaking that bogey. Yet 3rd fanatics are sniping at him. pic.twitter.com/17sVqojBDk— PopcornPassions (@popcornpassions) October 26, 2025
The crowd erupted in cheers as the actor, with folded hands, thanked them and added, “I hope you like it. And those of you in your family who haven’t watched it, please come once again with them.”
His genuine gesture quickly went viral, earning praise online. One fan commented, “He also said about Ayushmann. True fan.” Another wrote, “Pehla banda jo dusro ko bhi support me bola.”
Meanwhile, the statement did not sit well with a lot of netizens. One user wrote, "Harshvardhan Rane isn't a bad actor, but when you constantly pick the "outsider" card and make it the primary source to promote your mediocre film, it doesnt really help but tarnish your own image. And belittling Ahaan? Be fr bhai."
Another comment read, "Maturity is when you realize that Harshvardhan Rane underrated hi sahi thha."
Despite the debate, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat continues to perform well at the box office. The Harshvardhan Rane–Sonam Bajwa romantic drama has collected Rs 41.25 crore in its first week, holding strong despite competition from Thamma.
