In a shocking case of fraud and betrayal, Mumbai Police have charged Arun Singh, a petrol pump employee, and Naresh Singh, the long-time driver of Honey Irani, the mother of Farhan Akhtar and veteran writer and filmmaker, with using her fuel cards to embezzle approximately Rs 12 lakh over a three-year period.

According to ANI, Honey Irani's manager Diya Bhatia filed a complaint at Bandra Police Station on October 1, 2025, alleging that the driver, who appeared to be trustworthy, had been conspiring with the petrol station employees to conduct fraudulent fuel transactions.

According to the FIR (No. 1668/2025), the duo carried out the fraudulent activity between April 2022 and September 2025.

As per the report, “the accused repeatedly swiped the cards at a Bandra-based petrol pump without actually filling fuel in the vehicles. Instead, the petrol pump employee allegedly provided them with cash in exchange for the fake transactions.”

ANI reports that the fraud came to light when Irani’s team noticed something odd — fuel records showing 62-litre refills for a car with a 35-litre tank. The numbers simply didn’t add up. After a closer look, they uncovered a long-running pattern of false transactions.

When questioned, the driver allegedly confessed, admitting he had been misusing the cards for years and splitting the money with the petrol pump worker.

The incident was shocking and disappointing for Honey Irani, who is well-known in the film industry for her professionalism and integrity. The fact that someone who had lived in her home for a long time had betrayed her trust made it worse.

The two men have been charged by police under Sections 3(5), 316(2), and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which address fraud, deception, and criminal breach of trust.

Investigators are currently investigating whether the scam was limited to this one location or if other people at the petrol pump were also involved.
