Deol's to celebrate Dharmendra's 90th birthday

Veteran Bollywood icon Dharmendra has been recovering at his Juhu residence. According to reports, the actor will likely mark his milestone 90th birthday next month.

Dharmendra was discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on November 12 after being admitted due to breathlessness. The news of his health scare worried fans and colleagues across the industry; media crews and paparazzi swarmed the hospital and the Deol residence in the days following his admission. His family repeatedly appealed for privacy as speculation spiralled online.

A source close to the Deol family has reportedly told Bollywood Hungama that they are hopeful Dharmendra will be well enough to celebrate not just his 90th birthday on December 8 ‘if God is willing’, but also Esha Deol’s birthday, which the actor postponed earlier this month. Esha, who turned a year older on November 2, reportedly delayed her celebrations until her father recovered.

Hema Malini, speaking about her husband’s health, said the family is taking things slowly. “So far, he is okay. We are taking one day at a time,” she said.

Meanwhile, Dharmendra’s close bond with Salman Khan also made headlines. Speaking at a press conference in Qatar for his Da-Bangg tour, Salman expressed deep affection for the veteran actor. “Mere aane se pehle ek hi shaks the woh hain Dharam ji (Before me, there was just one person, and he was Dharam ji),” the superstar said.

Salman added, “He is my father; that's the end. I love that man, and I just hope that he will come back.” He was also reportedly the first celebrity to visit Dharmendra during his hospital stay.

With Dharmendra now recuperating at home, fans are hopeful for positive news ahead of his milestone birthday.

Dharmendra has remained active on-screen in recent years. He was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, co-starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. Up next, he will feature in Ikkis, which marks the debut of Agastya Nanda, Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson. The film is slated for release on December 25.
