Amitabh Bachchan has expressed disapproval of the media frenzy surrounding veteran actor Dharmendra’s recent health, and joined a growing chorus of industry voices calling out the lack of sensitivity shown in the coverage.
On Friday, Amitabh Bachchan posted a strongly worded critique on his Tumblr blog. He took an indirect dig at those who amplified rumours and circulated intrusive visuals. “No ethics...no sense of responsibility...just an avenue of personal gain, without any consideration of the moment...Disturbing and disgusting,” he wrote.
He later echoed the same sentiment on X, “No ethics at all.”

Amitabh Bachchan’s remarks come on the heels of Sunny Deol publicly condemning the paparazzi and sections of the media. He expressed outrage after a private video, purportedly showing members of the Deol family in a moment of deep distress, was circulated online.
Sunny Deol, visibly angered by photographers stationed outside his Juhu residence, reprimanded the media for going beyond acceptable boundaries.
Karan Johar, in a strongly worded statement, wrote, “When basic courtesy and sensitivity leave our hearts and our actions, we know we are a doomed race... It's heartbreaking to see paparazzi and see the media circus for a living legend who has contributed so massively to our cinema... this is not coverage, it's disrespect.”
Dharmendra, who had been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital due to breathlessness, was moved home on Wednesday. Despite repeated pleas from the Deol family, including his daughter Esha Deol and wife Hema Malini, media crews continued to camp outside the hospital and their home.
Dharmendra will turn 90 on December 8. He was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. His next film, Ikkis, featuring Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, is slated for release on December 25.
