The buzz around Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s upcoming horror-comedy Thamma is growing louder as the film gears up for its big theatrical release on 21 October.

Produced by Maddock Films, the movie is part of the wildly popular Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) — the same world that gave fans Stree, Bhediya, Roohi, and Munjya.

As with every new instalment in this universe, fans have been busy playing detective online, speculating about which familiar faces might show up this time.

Cameos have become somewhat of a tradition in these interconnected stories, and Thamma seems to be continuing that legacy.

In a recent chat with Pinkvilla, Ayushmann and Nawazuddin were asked point-blank about the surprise appearances. Ayushmann, with his trademark grin, said, “Aapko kya lag raha hai, kaun aa sakta hai? Hum toh bata nahi sakte, humein allowed nahi hai (What do you think? Who could appear? We can’t say because we’re not allowed to).”

When pressed further, he added playfully, “Kitne cameos hain?! Teen se chaar cameos hain. Teen toh hain hì (How many cameos? There are three to four. Three for sure).”

Naturally, this led to one burning question — will Stree’s Shraddha Kapoor make a comeback? The actors neither confirmed nor denied it, only smiling and leaving fans to wonder.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, who also helmed Munjya, Thamma promises a mix of horror, humour, and heartfelt emotion. Written by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Falara, the film follows Alok Goyal (played by Ayushmann), a young man whose life turns upside down when he accidentally frees an ancient Yakshasan — a mythical being that curses him into becoming a vampire. What starts as a supernatural mishap quickly spirals into a darkly funny tale about identity, family, and redemption.

Alongside the lead trio, the film features Paresh Rawal, Sathyaraj, Faisal Malik, Geeta Aggarwal, and Rachit Singh in key roles. Adding to the sparkle, Nora Fatehi and Malaika Arora will be seen in special song appearances.
