Superstar Akshay Kumar is excited as his niece Simar Bhatia is going to make her Bollywood debut soon in Ikkis.
The film, which stars veteran actor Dharmendra and Agastya Nanda, grandson of Amitabh Bachchan, is one of the much awaited war films in 2025.
Akshay Kumar has been proudly cheering her on since the project was announced. Sharing the film’s poster on his Instagram stories, Akshay wrote,
“My little Simi's not so little anymore... from your living room performances to the big screen in #Ikkis, heart bursting with pride! @simarbhatia and Agastya, what screen presence! Wishing the whole team huge succcess”
On Tuesday, which marked the birth anniversary of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, the makers unveiled the film’s first-look posters.
The gripping visuals and intense atmosphere immediately caught fans’ attention, as the team also announced a new release date for the much-anticipated film.
The true story of Arun Khetarpal, a young soldier who showed incredible bravery and gave his life for the country at the age of 21, is told in Ikkis, which is set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak War.
With this biographical war drama, Sriram Raghavan, who is renowned for his ability to combine emotion and realism, ventures into uncharted territory and promises an open and sincere ode to bravery.
Earlier in the day, Maddock Films, which is producing the film under Dinesh Vijan, shared the poster with the caption,
“Woh Ikkis ka tha, Ikkis ka hi rahega. Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films present #Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan, a true untold story of the youngest officer recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. In cinemas December 2025!”
Initially slated for release on October 2, 2025, the film will now hit cinemas in December 2025. It also features Jaideep Ahlawat in a pivotal role.
In an earlier interview with PTI, Raghavan explained that the film would remain grounded in truth and emotion rather than stylised heroism.
“It’s not a comic-book hero version,” he said. “The narrative skips the protagonist’s early life and instead focuses on his courageous journey as a young soldier who laid down his life for the nation shortly after turning 21. It is a big production; there will be tank fights and all that.”
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is keeping busy himself with upcoming releases like Welcome… To The Jungle, Haiwaan, Bhoot Bangla, and Hera Pheri 3.
