Abhishek Bachchan has a reputation for being composed and self-assured, and his most recent social media interaction is evidence that decency is always fashionable.

Instead of lashing out or ignoring the jab when a film journalist accused him of staying relevant through "bought awards and aggressive PR pushes," the actor responded with elegance, honesty, and quiet power.

Shortly after Abhishek won the 2025 Filmfare Awards for his outstanding performance in I Want To Talk, the debate started.

Although both critics and viewers liked the movie and his performance, one journalist questioned whether the recognition was justified.

Rather than responding with anger, Abhishek addressed the claim head-on, writing, “Just to set the record straight. Never has any award been bought or aggressive PR been done by me. Just hard work, blood, sweat and tears. But doubt you’ll believe anything I say or write. So… best way to shut you up is by working even harder so that you don’t ever doubt any achievement that will happen in the future, again. I will prove you wrong! With all due respect and ‘affability’.”

A part of review by Moneycontrol of I Want To Talk read, "As for the humour in the film, Arjun cracks plenty of jokes, all of which are very Phil Dunphy-coded. Some of my favourite ones being: "I am the brand ambassador of the Mushroom Council of the world, they call me Fun-gi" and "When two Sens are talking to each other, butting in between is in'sen'sitive". In another scene, after having 80% of his stomach removed, Arjun says “I am officially a gutless man”. Sharp writing, witty humour and emotional gutpunches make Shoojit Sircar's film a phenomenal tale of survival, grit and perseverance. Dialogue by Ritesh Shah will have you smiling through tears. I Want To Talk is as much a father-daughter story as it is a heroic tale of survival."
