The very first episode of Bigg Boss 19 saw influencer and choreographer Awez Darbar open up in a way fans hadn’t seen before.
Sitting with his housemates, he spoke about the struggles of growing up in a broken home and how those experiences still shape his outlook on life and love today.
Recalling his parents’ separation, Awez admitted it left a mark on him. “Mere mom dad ke separation ke baad na, voh log alag ho gaye uske baad, mere andar bachpan mei joh jhagde dekha tha… Most of the time kya hota hai malum, galti teri bhi nahi hoti, teri bhi nahi hoti but kisiko sunna hi nahi hai mai kya bolna chah raha hu. Uski vajese lafde hote hai aadhe se zyada (After my mom and dad separated, and they went their own ways, I carried the memories of the fights I had seen in childhood. Most of the time, you know, it’s not really your fault, and it’s not the other person’s fault either — but nobody is willing to listen to what you’re trying to say. And because of that, more than half of the conflicts happen.)” he shared.
The constant fights he witnessed as a child, he explained, often made him feel unheard, and those memories have stayed with him.
Opening up further, Awez revealed how his trust was broken in a past relationship. “Meko koi ladki pasand aa gayi thi… Mai apna 100% dunga toh shayad sab thik rahega. Par bhai voh madam ji ne mere aaju baaju jitne dost the sabke sath mei… Tabse mera mind aisa ho gaya ki I think nahi karna hai. Muje rehna hi nahi kisi ke sath (There was a girl I really liked… I thought if I gave my 100%, maybe everything would work out. But then, brother, that madam was involved with almost all my close friends… Since then my mind just switched. I felt like I don’t want to do this anymore. I don’t want to be with anyone at all)” he admitted. That betrayal, he said, made him wary of closeness and reluctant to invest emotionally in anyone again.
Despite his emotional scars, Awez is entering Bigg Boss 19 with a clear mindset. Before stepping into the house, he told News18 Showsha, “I’m not going to run away from drama. If drama comes upon me, then I will continue it in a very subtle and nice way. I think it is important to take up challenges in life. I will not be fake (in the show). I will stay natural. I will not create drama unnecessarily, but I feel, after a point, you get into fights in the Bigg Boss house because there is nothing else to do. Fights will definitely happen. I am excited to see how things will unfold. I do not know how I am going to react to situations and therefore, I am even more excited.”

For those who only know him as a digital star, Awez has an impressive journey. He is the younger son of music composer Ismail Darbar and the brother-in-law of Bigg Boss 7 winner Gauahar Khan.
From being a TikTok sensation to launching his YouTube channel in 2014, he has carved a name for himself with dance videos and choreography.
In 2019, along with his brother Zaid Darbar and Tejal Pimpley, he co-founded B You Academy, a dance studio inaugurated by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
With honesty, vulnerability and a readiness to take on challenges, Awez Darbar has already made a mark on Bigg Boss 19. For viewers, his journey promises to be one of courage, resilience and perhaps, rediscovering trust.
