Bassist Chandramouli Biswas found dead, police suspect death by suicide

Chandramouli Biswas was found dead in his rented home

Former bassist of the band Fossils, Chandramouli Biswas, was found dead in his home in Kolkata. According to police reports, they suspect suicide.

Chandramouli's former bandmates, Rupam Islam and others paid tribute to the late musician.

Chandramouli Biswas's body was found hanging in his rented appartment on Indian Mirror Street in Kolkata on Sunday. He was 48.

According to police, Chandramouli was alone at his home on the fateful day and his parents were away.

Chandramouli's body was first discovered by friend, Mehul Chakraborty, who immediately informed the police.

"I hadn't been able to reach Chandramouli on the phone since morning. The phone kept ringing, and I grew worried. So, I went to his house with another friend in the afternoon, and that's when I saw him hanging from a fan," Mehul told police.

Police are still investigating the matter to know the reason for the musician's extreme step.

The news of Chandramouli's death reached his former Fossils members when they on their way for a programme in Nadia district.

The band's lead vocalist, Rupam Islam broke the silence and told the audience about the shocking news. "We have performed on this stage 21 times. Out of these, the picture of the person who was with us 16 times is on the screen behind us. When we came here, we received a piece of news in the car and that news hit us like a thunderbolt. In such a situation, no one can sing. No one can play an instrument. But the Bengali rock crowd is in front of us. Chandra was our companion for a long time. I have no hesitation in saying today that he was my best friend. We were in touch until last year."

Chandramouli was associated with Fossils for 18 years, from 2000 to 2018.

Biswas was also associated with the bands 'Golak' and 'Zombie Cage Control'.

On Sunday, he also changed his profile picture on social media.
