Nine-year-old Binita Chetry from Assam has made history by finishing as the second runner-up in the finale of Britain’s Got Talent, marking a remarkable journey from her village in Karbi Anglong to the global stage. Her family proudly stated that she is the first Indian contestant to make it to the grand finale of the popular reality show.

As the season came to an end, magician Harry Moulding emerged victorious, with LED dance group "The Blackouts" coming in second. Binita thanked all of her supporters and social media followers, particularly those in the UK, for voting and blessing her journey in a video posted on BGT's official social media platforms.

Binita Chetry revealed that she felt confident enough to perform on a global platform such as Britain's Got Talent because of the tremendous support she received from India, Nepal, Bhutan, and other Asian nations. She said she hopes to meet Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in person to thank him for his encouragement and expressed her sincere gratitude. “I hope this message reaches him, and I get the chance to meet him,” she added warmly.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wished the dancing protege, saying she has done everyone proud with her achievement. "Dancing her way to glory. Many congratulations to our very own #BinitaChetry on securing the 3rd spot at #BGTFinal,” he said in a post on X. "Her performances have mesmerised audiences from the Brahmaputra to the Thames and made us all proud,” Sarma said, wishing her the best in future endeavours.

Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), provided financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to help with her final preparations, and Binita Chetry thanked the leaders for their vital support. She also thanked Numal Momin, the deputy speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly and a local MLA, for his encouragement.

Binita is from a modest background and hails from the village of Talbalijan, which is close to Bokajan. Her father, Amar Chetry, is an active member of the community and runs a small grill chicken farm.

Early on, he saw his daughter's potential and made sure she received appropriate dance instruction, first in Guwahati and then in Jaipur, under the guidance of her aunt Amrita Devi and choreographer Hardik Rawat, according to Nanda Kirati Dewan, coordinator of the Binita Chetry Support Group.
