Binita Chetry, 9-year-old Assamese girl becomes first Indian finalist on Britain’s Got Talent, says 'If I win I will buy a pink princess house'

Binita Chetry makes history in BGT

As the first contestant from Northeast India to make it to the finals of Britain's Got Talent (BGT) 2025, 9-year-old Binita Chetry has accomplished a remarkable feat that has made India, especially the northeastern state of Assam, proud.

She received a standing ovation for her captivating dance performance, which also guaranteed her a place in the highly anticipated grand finale on May 31.

Binita, who comes from a modest upbringing, has had an incredible journey from Assam to the world stage. Her performance, which enthralled the audience as well as the judges' panel, which included Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli, demonstrated her love of dancing and unwavering resolve.

As per North East Today, following her semi-final win, an emotional and elated Binitasaid shared after the show, , “I’m feeling very thankful. I’ve worked very hard for the semi-final, and I’m going to do my best for the finals.”

She also revealed that appearing on Britain’s Got Talent had been a lifelong dream. But it was her heartwarming wish that truly won hearts across the globe—“I want to win and buy a pink princess house.”

The judges were moved by her honesty and innocence, calling her performance "truly magical." Since then, social media platforms have been inundated with messages of support and admiration, hailing her as a new representation of India's youthful talent.

Nine other gifted performers, including Ollie Pearson, Stacey Leadbeatter, Hear Our Voice, Jasmine Rice, Ping Pong Pang, magician Harry Moulding, Joseph Charm, Blackouts, and Vinny McKee, will compete against Binita in the grand finale.

Although there will be fierce competition, Binita has already distinguished herself with her distinct cultural flair and expressive performance style.
