Arjun Kapoor recently revealed an interesting and unconventional tradition followed at his family’s dinner table—cinema, a dominant part of their lives, is rarely discussed.

In an interview, the actor, who is basking in the success of Singham Again, shed light on what truly dominates their dinner conversations. Instead of focusing on their flourishing careers in the entertainment industry, the Kapoor family prefers to indulge in lighthearted discussions about food.

When asked about their family dynamics during meals, Arjun shared, “We don’t discuss cinema at the dinner table.” For a family deeply rooted in Bollywood—his father, Boney Kapoor, is a veteran filmmaker, and his sisters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, are emerging stars—this might come as a surprise. However, Arjun explained that their focus shifts entirely to the delicious spread on the table, making food the central theme of their conversations.

He elaborated, “We talk about what’s kept on the table; that’s more exciting. Filmon se zyada aaj mutton kaunsa bana hai, daal kaunsi bani hai, kisko kiske saath mix karke khana chahiye uspe discussion hota hai (Rather than films, we talk about the mutton dishes served and explore different combinations with the food that’s kept on the table).” This unique approach offers the Kapoor family a break from their professional lives and gives them a chance to bond over a shared love for food.

The actor’s insight into their family’s traditions reflects a grounded and relatable aspect of their otherwise glamorous lives. For Arjun, this separation of work and personal life during meals is crucial. It allows them to unwind, enjoy hearty conversations, and savor the moment rather than diving into work-related topics.

Arjun is currently enjoying a high point in his career with Singham Again, where he plays the antagonist, Danger Lanka. His portrayal has been praised for exploring a darker, modern interpretation of the epic Ramayana character Ravana. Starring alongside industry heavyweights like Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, and Deepika Padukone, the movie has garnered immense box office success, crossing Rs 300 crore.

Despite the success, Arjun’s dinner-table anecdotes paint a picture of humility and normalcy. He emphasized the joy of family meals that are free from the pressures of work. The Kapoor family’s inclination to discuss dishes like mutton curry, daal, and other culinary delights showcases their shared passion for food, offering them a comforting escape from their fast-paced careers.

Arjun’s love for food is well-documented. In several interviews, he has expressed his interest in trying new cuisines and experimenting with combinations. This shared family tradition seems to stem from this culinary enthusiasm. It’s a simple yet powerful way to bring the family closer, creating moments of joy that are entirely disconnected from the limelight.

As the conversation steered toward his professional life, Arjun revealed how playing the antagonist in Singham Again challenged him. The film, part of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, explores an “Avengers-style crossover” and features characters like Veer Sooryavanshi (Akshay Kumar) and Simmba (Ranveer Singh). Arjun’s character is pitted against Ajay Devgn’s iconic supercop, Bajirao Singham, adding intensity to the storyline.

But amidst this cinematic success, Arjun’s ability to maintain balance between his work and personal life becomes evident. “The dining table is a sacred space for us, where the world outside doesn’t matter,” he remarked. This approach highlights the importance of nurturing relationships and creating boundaries to sustain mental well-being, especially in demanding professions.
