Liam Payne, who rose to fame with the One Direction boy band, died last year after a tragic fall from the hotel balcony in Buenos Aires death at Palermo's CasaSur Hotel. Five people including his friends and hotel staff were linked to his death. However, there has been the latest development in his case.
According to reports by news agency The Associated Press, the Argentine court has dismissed charges against Rogelio Nores, Gilda Martin, and Esteban Grassi. Argentine businessman Rogelio, who holds a US citizenship, accompanied Liam on his trip to Buenos Aires.
The prosecutors claimed that Rogelio was negligent for leaving a drunk Payne alone. However, the court agreed with the defence that Rogelio had no obligation to care for Payne, either legally, morally, or socially. Additionally, Rogelio was outside the hotel when Payne died.
Prosecutors argued that Payne should have been prevented from going to his hotel room, where the balcony posed a risk until he received proper medical attention.
However, the court ruled on Wednesday that prosecutors did not provide sufficient evidence to show that taking Payne to his hotel room was careless, reckless, or negligent.
Meanwhile, Glida is the manager and Esteban is the head receptionist of the hotel where the singer died on October 16, 2024. However, the court has ordered that Braian Paiz, a waiter, and Ezequiel David Pereyra, a former employee, remain in custody.
They are accused of plying Liam with cocaine during his stay in Buenos Aires. According to the reports, they can face up to 15 years in prison if convicted. The autopsy reports of the singer notably revealed traces of alcohol, cocaine, and prescription antidepressants in his body. The former One Direction singer fell to his death from a hotel balcony.
