Recent reports claiming Telugu composer Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) would replace AR Rahman in Ram Charan’s upcoming film RC16 have been dismissed as baseless. Deccan Chronicle quoted a source confirming, “These rumours are completely untrue. Rahman has already delivered three soulful tracks for the film and is working on a fourth.”
The celebrated composer’s music is set to be a key highlight of this sports-centric emotional drama, directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The film, which features intense sports sequences, promises a standout soundtrack from Rahman, who was reportedly captivated by the story.
Speculation about Rahman’s replacement may have stemmed from his recent announcement of taking a one-year break from new projects. However, insiders clarified that Rahman remains fully committed to RC16. “He’s dedicated to creating memorable chartbusters that align with the film’s emotional depth,” the source added.
Preparations for RC16 are in full swing, with director Buchi Babu Sana overseeing rehearsals involving 1000 junior artists. Ram Charan will begin two months of non-stop filming on January 27, showcasing his energy in challenging sports sequences, including cricket and football.
The film also stars Janhvi Kapoor in a de-glam role, alongside Kannada icon Shivaraj Kumar in a pivotal part. Ram Charan, fresh from playing powerful roles in RRR and Game Changer, will portray a lungi-clad tribal hero in this underdog-turned-champion saga.
