Anupamaa episode update August 20: Khyati reprimands Mahi from dressing up for the wedding; reminds her she is a widow

The episodes of Anupamaa are getting interesting every passing day. Bhavesh reveals that although he had come to share in the joy, he ultimately expressed his sadness. He is comforted by Hasmuk, who reminds him that family is a place of open communication. Anupamaa goes on to say that expressing emotions doesn't make people less happy; rather, it shows courage to bear sorrow while celebrating delight. While Anupamaa believes in Bhavesh's ability, Rahi reassures him that he will find another job and tells him not to worry.

Bhavesh declines Leela's suggestion to call his wife out of concern about possible confrontation. Leela reminds him that he was happier by himself and that becoming married again hasn't made him feel at ease. He is comforted by Anupamaa, who suggests that he and his wife should be patient and understanding. As the Shahs joyfully celebrate Prarthana and Ansh's haldi, Hasmuk then exhorts everyone to put their troubles aside and savour the occasion. Everyone will soon be covered with haldi, Prem declares.

Meanwhile, Mahi feels left out despite wearing her haldi attire. She compares herself to others who have partners and questions her loneliness. Distressed, she runs away. Anupamaa, recalling Anuj, notices Mahi missing and goes to look for her. During her search, she is shocked to encounter Vasundhara and Khyati.

Presuming they have come for Prarthana's haldi, Anupamaa greets them with warmth. Vasundhara, however, makes it clear that she is there to sign documents that require Prarthana turn over her child after delivery. Anupamaa objects, reminding Vasundhara that Prarthana is now their daughter-in-law and casting doubt on her support of Gautam. Anupamaa promises to never allow mother and child to be separated, despite Vasundhara's insistence that she wants the baby at all costs.

Anupamaa claims that no amount of money can purchase her family, despite Vasundhara's warnings about their wealth. Anupamaa adamantly responds that she hasn't yet seen the real her when Vasundhara makes fun of her. Anupamaa says that Vasundhara should depart gently as long as she respects their relationship, despite Vasundhara's request that she speak softly. The old fiery Anupama, whose rage once shook even a lion, still resides within her.

In the episodes ahead, when Anupamaa stands up for Mahi after Khyati chastises her for dressing up, Khyati firmly reminds her that a widow cannot dress like a bride.
