Veteran actor Anupam Kher took a nostalgic walk down memory lane as he promoted his upcoming film Tanvi The Great.

In a recent interaction with Siddharth Kannan, Anupam Kher opened up about the warmth and authenticity that once defined the Hindi film industry, a time before vanity vans and mobile phones changed the dynamics of relationships.

Reflecting on how Bollywood used to be, Anupam Kher said the industry was once built on deep personal bonds rather than conveniences.

"Humare rishte bane hai. Na humare pass vanity van hoti thi, na mobile, humare pass rishte hote thee (Our relationships were built genuinely. We didn’t have vanity vans or mobile phones. What we had were real bonds),” he recalled.

During the conversation, Anupam Kher fondly revisited a moment from his talk show featuring Shah Rukh Khan. The superstar had famously remarked, “I am the last superstar,” a sentiment that Anupam Kher agreed with, acknowledging the changing nature of fame in the current era.

Anupam Kher also lauded the enduring star power of industry legends like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, stating, “Their stardom is timeless. Mr. Bachchan, especially, is a shining example of someone who faced tough times and rose again, like a true giant.”

Tanvi The Great, his latest release, represents a significant milestone for the veteran actor, who is also directing it.

The film features a powerhouse cast including Anupam Kher himself, Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, Karan Tacker, Nasser, and Game of Thrones star Iain Glen.

Backed by exceptional talent, the film also brings together Oscar-winning composer M.M. Keeravani and sound designer Resul Pookutty, with Japanese cinematographer Keiko Nakahara lensing the visuals. Tanvi The Great is a collaboration between Anupam Kher Studios and NFDC, and is set to hit theatres globally on 18 July.
