Aly Goni on struggles of finding a home in Mumbai: Many people rejected me and Jasmin saying ‘Hum Muslims ko ghar nahi dete'

Television star Aly Goni, currently seen in Laughter Chefs Season 2, recently opened up about the challenges he faced while searching for a home in Mumbai. Aly, who is in a committed relationship with fellow actor Jasmin Bhasin, revealed that the couple’s decision to move in together was not as smooth as they had hoped, due to religious discrimination.

Speaking candidly on the InControversial Podcast, Aly shared the difficulties he encountered during their house-hunting journey, particularly because of his identity as a Kashmiri Muslim. “I have never faced discrimination in the industry for being Kashmiri. However, I faced it a lot during the house hunt. Aaj bhi hota hai. Jasmin and I were searching for a house, but many people rejected us, saying, ‘Hum Muslims ko ghar nahi dete.’ The majority of them were the old people,” he revealed.

Despite being a well-known face in the entertainment industry, Aly admitted that some societal prejudices remain deeply rooted. “It’s sad, but this is still the reality in many parts of the city,” he noted.

He also touched upon his journey in showbiz, highlighting how even in the glamour world, the struggle is ongoing. “The struggle is there. It is everywhere, but in showbiz, we get a lot of disappointments. We faced a lot of challenges right from the audition process to casting in the show,” he said.

Commenting on the evolving landscape of the industry, Aly added, “Nowadays, due to social media, people get famous by making reels. Sometimes we would doubt ourselves when the casting director avoided us casting in the project by giving some vague reasons. Young actors don’t know what the audition is.”

Aly also expressed gratitude toward industry veterans who supported him. “I got support from the industry people. Especially, Ekta Kapoor has kept me in every possible show of Balaji. Struggle is never going to end,” he said.

On the personal front, Aly and Jasmin continue to be one of the most adored couples in the television world. While the two are currently living together, fans eagerly await news of their wedding.
