Alia Bhatt shows interest in working with THIS Malayalam actor; says she admires him  

Alia Bhatt wants to work with Fahadh Fassil

It was not just her high-wattage ensemble that caught people’s eyes as Alia Bhatt made her red carpet debut at Cannes Film Festival 2025. In an honest conversation with Brut India, the Jigra actor also shared that she’s a fan of Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil and that he is one of the actors she admires.

"I really like Fahadh Faasil as an artiste. He's a very, very good singer. Aavesham is one of my favourites. I would for sure love to work with him someday," Alia said of him and his brilliant performance in the hit film.

And Alia’s love affair with Malayalam cinema didn’t just stop at that. She further praised her Darlings co-actor Roshan Mathew as a “fantastic actor” who has made an impression in both Malayalam and Hindi cinema. "I'm so glad that I got to share screen with him and Malayalam cinema for always making quality films,".

When questioned about regional lines in Indian cinema, Alia stressed that she is a firm believer in creating art as one. “I don’t see the difference regionally,” she said. “What the pandemic taught us is that we’re all one body. Add to this the international streaming platforms and the potential reach is huge. You can watch and enjoy stories from around the world," she added.

Alia went on to detail how streaming services have changed her  viewing habits. She recently saw a Philippine animated film that won an Oscar, and it struck her.

“I get a chance to see something from someone else’s angle because of the platform that we have,” she said, emphasizing the value of cultural exchange facilitated through film.

In another noise-generating moment at Cannes, Alia made news in the fashion department when she was the first to sport a Gucci saree at the closing ceremony of the festival. Everything about her look and words screamed global fashion star and passionate campaigner for cinematic diversity and collaboration.

With talks about pan-Indian projects becoming more and more intense, Alia Bhatt’s fascination with regional talent like Fahadh Faasil is not just hers but a sign that Indian cinema is heading in the direction of a single narrative.
