Alia Bhatt’s half-brother Rahul Bhatt has once again made headlines with his no-filter commentary—this time about her husband, actor Ranbir Kapoor. In a candid interview with Hindi Rush, Rahul praised Ranbir for his parenting skills but made it clear that he’s indifferent to the actor’s fame or filmography.
“Ranbir is a great father. I think that is the most important thing. A man should… I respect him as that,” Rahul said when asked about his dynamic with Ranbir Kapoor. Rather than diving into Ranbir’s acclaimed acting career, Rahul shifted the focus entirely to his role as a father to his and Alia's daughter, Raha Kapoor.
When asked about Ranbir’s acting, Rahul didn’t hold back. “Acting? Pata nahi mujhe kuch samajh mein nahi aata hai… acting kaun hai, actor kaun hai, Animal kaun hai, Kapoor kaun hai? Mere ko kuch farak nahi padta,” he said. (“I don’t understand. Who is acting? Who is the actor? Who is the Animal? Who is Kapoor? I don’t care.”)
“He is a good father. That’s it. He loves his daughter. He respects my step-sister. Everything else is all supplementary,” Rahul added, making it clear that for him, familial bonds outweigh industry accolades.
Interestingly, Rahul also revealed a behind-the-scenes detail from Ranbir’s preparation for the blockbuster film Animal. “During the preparation for Animal, he had some questions. He was heading to Abu Dhabi for weapons training and asked me if it was a good place. He’s very sincere and curious,” he said. This shows a level of personal rapport between the two, despite Rahul’s indifference to the entertainment world.
Rahul also reminisced about their early days, noting a shared history from childhood. “I’ve known him since he was a kid. He went to Bombay Scottish and I was in Arya Mandir,” Rahul shared, suggesting that their paths had crossed long before their families were connected by marriage.
Rahul Bhatt, the son of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and Kiran Bhatt (formerly Loraine Bright), has often spoken openly about his relationship with his half-siblings and the Bhatt family at large.
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor has a jam-packed schedule ahead with upcoming projects like the Ramayana trilogy, Animal Park (sequel to Animal), Dhoom 4, Brahmastra: Part Two – Dev, and a reported collaboration with director Rajkumar Hirani. However, for Rahul Bhatt, none of that matters as much as Ranbir’s role within the family—especially as a loving father and respectful husband.
