Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani emerged victorious with two honours at the 71st National Film Awards. The romantic drama starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh was recognised with the award for Best Popular Film for providing wholesome entertainment, and also won Best Choreography for the vibrant track Dhindora Baje Re.
One of the song's most memorable parts was definitely Alia and Ranveer's strong yet elegant dance performance.
In order to give fans a glimpse into the song's creation, Alia recently shared an unseen behind-the-scenes video of her experience practicing for the grand number with choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant.
When a clearly happy Merchant gives Alia a cash token at the end of the video, a customary filmi expression of gratitude, Alia touches her feet and jumps with uncontrollable delight.
Along with the video, Alia wrote, "Reliving these memories and my heart is soooo full today Dhindhora Baje Re is your brilliance @vaibhavi.merchant. Forever grateful for the unforgettable journey that was #RRKPK, and to every single member of this brilliant team, this win is yours. Big big love to this wholesome happy journey.”
Reacting to the win, Ranveer also wrote a long note saying, “The real win for RRKPK is how it has grown to become people’s go-to comfort film. They rewatch it again and again, as a form of emotional regulation. Ek aisi film jo dil ka bojh halka kar deti hai. That’s wholesome entertainment indeed. Feeling proud, feeling blessed, feeling grateful.”
The rich theme of Durga Puja and the vivid red background gave the song Dhindora Baje Re depth and significance while also giving it a traditional and cultural resonance.
Vaibhavi Merchant's choreography was particularly striking, with each movement showcasing her painstaking attention to detail. Through stirring performances, both actors brought the elaborate dance sequences to life, capturing the festival's grandeur and spirit.
