Akshay Kumar is set to make his Telugu film debut with the epic mythological drama Kannappa, marking a significant milestone in his career and now the actor has shared a new poster from the film starring himself on social media.
Vishnu Manchu plays the lead in this well-known pan-Indian film, which also stars Prabhas, Mohanlal, Kajal Aggarwal, and Akshay as Lord Shiva. The film's official release date is set for June 27, 2025, following much anticipation, according to the makers.
The news of the new release date was initially confirmed in April by trade analyst Taran Adarsh via his X (formerly Twitter) handle. “VISHNU MANCHU’S PAN-INDIA FILM ‘KANNAPPA’ LOCKS NEW RELEASE DATE: 27 JUNE 2025… Mark your calendars… #Kannappa – the historical action saga – is now set to release on 27 June 2025,” he posted.

Akshay Kumar recently unveiled his appearance as Lord Shiva in a stunning new poster on his Instagram Stories, which only increased the excitement. Fans have already been enthralled by the actor's divine appearance, which has raised hopes for his impactful performance in the epic myth.
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, and the film's crew met in private to make the announcement. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by M Mohan Babu, the multilingual movie will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
