Akhanda 2 is already stirring a wave of excitement overseas, and Germany just delivered one of the most striking moments yet. At an auction held ahead of the film’s December 5 release, a devoted Nandamuri Balakrishna fan bought the first ticket for an eye-popping Rs 1 lakh. The event, organised by Taraka Rama Entertainments, reflects both the scale of Balakrishna’s global fan base and the growing international footprint of Telugu cinema.
The auction allowed fans across Germany to bid for the chance to own the very first ticket in their respective regions. The winning bid came from Rajasekhar Parnapalli, a Frankfurt-based Balakrishna loyalist, who secured the ticket at a price rarely seen for any South Indian film overseas. For him, the purchase was less about exclusivity and more about emotional connection.
“No matter which country I am in, I’m a Balayya fan anywhere in the world. I feel like I’m experiencing the flavours of my village and Seema Andhra here,” he said in a video shared at the event. He spoke about celebrating Balakrishna’s releases back home with cutouts and banners and said buying this ticket made him feel rooted despite living far away. “As a Nandamuri family man, I feel proud to have bought this ticket.”
Akhanda 2: Thaandavam marks the return of director Boyapati Srinu to the franchise after the blockbuster success of Akhanda in 2021. Produced by Ram Achanta, Gopi Achanta, and Ishan Saksena under 14 Reels Plus and IVY Entertainment, the film carries forward the high-octane blend of action and mysticism that defined the original.
Balakrishna reprises his dual roles as Akhanda, an aghora, and Murali Krishna, a benevolent community leader. The twin dynamic, central to the first film’s appeal, is once again positioned to drive both drama and fan frenzy. The sequel features Samyuktha, Aadhi Pinisetty, and Harshaali Malhotra in key roles, adding to the anticipation around the project.
Balakrishna, reflecting on Akhanda’s impact, recalled how the 2021 film revived theatre footfalls at a time when the industry was recovering from the pandemic. “Today, cinema has become a necessity, and it is the industry’s responsibility to deliver quality content,” he said. Akhanda went on to collect Rs 117 crore worldwide.
With fans abroad showing this level of enthusiasm even before release, distributors are keenly watching how Akhanda 2 performs in the international market. The Rs 1 lakh ticket moment is already a sign that the momentum is strong.
